Mr. Battaglia, Managing Partner of RCG, serves as a senior member of the Firm’s Investment Committee, and is responsible for the Firm’s overall business development and deal origination activities, including the Firm’s engagement with investment banks, sell-side advisors, buy-side advisors, and other deal origination relationships. Mr. Battaglia is involved in all aspects of the Firm’s investment activities and provides leadership related to Firm’s investment activities in the business services sector with a focus on digital infrastructure, information services, and tech-enabled outsourced business services.
Prior to RCG, Mr. Battaglia served as a Partner at ABRY Partners (“ABRY”). During his 19-year tenure at ABRY, he originated, oversaw, and sold businesses across a variety of digital infrastructure, information and technology-enabled outsourced business services sectors spanning cloud and managed IT services, regional and metro fiber, machine-to-machine and IoT communications and applications, cable television, broadcasting, media and payment processing services. Mr. Battaglia was instrumental in the development and execution of ABRY’s broadband investment thesis that originated during the firm’s early exposure to the “utility-like” nature of residential high-speed internet service, and that resulted in ABRY successfully investing significant capital in companies utilizing digital infrastructure to provide broadband connectivity, bandwidth delivery, and cloud enablement services to consumers, businesses, enterprises, carriers, and devices. Mr. Battaglia served on the boards of Masergy, RCN Telecom Services, Lightower Fiber Networks, KORE Wireless (NYSE: KORE), Grande Communications, Atlantic Broadband, WOW! (NSYE: WOW), Cast & Crew Entertainment Services, Talent Partners, Hometown Cable and Nexstar Media Group (NASDAQ: NXST).
Mr. Battaglia also served as a Venture Partner for Delta-v Capital, a leading growth equity firm investing across technology sectors, including cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, DevOps, cloud services, SaaS, information services and wellness and lifestyle technology. Earlier in his career, he served in the investment banking department of Morgan Stanley in New York City. During his more than 25-year career in private equity, Mr. Battaglia has been instrumental in sponsoring and executing private equity transactions representing over $3.4 billion in transaction value.
Mr. Battaglia received an Electrical and Computer Engineering degree with honors from The University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi, has been distinguished by the Cockrell School of Engineering as an Outstanding Young Engineering Graduate, and serves on The Engineering Advisory Board of the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin.
